Blueprint

Blueprint 2.0 is the next generation of our infrastructure automation platform, designed to streamline the deployment of cloud and on-premises environments. This solution aims to significantly reduce setup times, improve cost efficiency, enhance reliability, and ensure maintainability. By leveraging cutting-edge tools and methodologies, Blueprint 2.0 allows Omni to quickly and efficiently deploy robust, scalable infrastructure without the need for extensive DevOps expertise.

Overview

Blueprint Foundation will be an advanced infrastructure automation solution designed to streamline deployments across cloud and bare metal environments. It will use Terraform and OpenTofu modules wrapped around Terragrunt files, leveraging cutting-edge tools to optimize deployment and operational efficiency.

Cost Efficiency

One of the primary goals of Blueprint Foundation will be to significantly reduce deployment costs. By utilizing Terraform for infrastructure as code (IaC). Blueprint Foundation will enable efficient and lean deployments. This approach will minimize overhead and eliminate bloated deployments by ensuring that only the necessary resources are used. For bare metal environments, Blueprint Foundation will support deployments on the smallest form factors, allowing for expansion into that space and reducing hardware costs by avoiding unnecessary large-scale equipment.

Maintainability

Maintaining and upgrading infrastructure can often be complex and time-consuming. Blueprint Foundation will prioritize Day 2 operations, focusing on simplifying maintenance tasks, upgrades, and adaptations to meet changing customer needs. The goal is to ensure that anyone, regardless of skill level, can perform necessary maintenance tasks. Environments will remain stable and operational after deployment, with updates applied in manageable pieces as needed.

Agnostic Approach

One of the standout features of Blueprint Foundation will be its agnostic approach to deployment environments. By utilizing Packer to create machine images deployable across different cloud providers and bare metal environments, Blueprint Foundation will offer a versatile and flexible solution. Terragrunt will enhance this flexibility by pulling in both Terraform and OpenTofu providers, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of infrastructure configurations.

The reuse of code at the module level will further support this agnostic approach, allowing for consistent and efficient deployments across various platforms. This modularity will make it easy to adapt the infrastructure to different deployment scenarios, whether in hybrid or multi-cloud strategies, without significant reconfiguration.
