While we are proud of our accomplishments at BESPIN and with Digital University, we are continuing to roll out new curricula and features all the time!  Our partnership with BESPIN allows us to iteratively improve the education platform, add features and content to it, and all the while continuing to focus on their user and customers to ensure the experience and quality of education continues to improve.  BESPIN, DU, and the service members that rely on the education platform are all benefiting from Omni’s experience and expertise in user-centered agile methods.  DevSecOps and UCD are ensuring positive outcomes for DU.

We partnered with BESPIN to address Digital Learning Gap for Airmen and Guardians. and set a strategy and conceptual design for develop a digital learning platform for US Air Force and Space Force  With rapid iteration to took the idea and launched our MVP in Feb 2022 (started July 2021).  Feature curriculum leveraging best-in-class content providers: Udemy, Udacity, Pluralsight, Data Camp, Cloud Academy, and very soon Coursera were integrated.  We are now in Cloud One and support CAC authentication to be as widely accessible on AFNet and other DoD networks as well as the commercial internet

Digital University

With close collaboration at BESPIN Software Factory,  we designed, built, and launched a modern training platform into Cloud One that delivers industry leading digital training to over 35,000 warfighters across the DoD.

We continue to launch new training content to add to the 25,000+ course catalog including curriculum from Google, Cloud Academy, and Data Camp.

While Omni is proud of our accomplishments at DHA, we continue to pursue an expansion of our efforts by capturing additional data sources, expanding DHA’s Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipeline for Cloud One deployments, and applying Machine Learning and AI models to the data repository.

JOMIS maintains the OpMed Electronic Health Record (EHR) – a longitudinal health record for personnel supporting operational missions throughout DoD. Aligning with the DoD Chief Data Officer’s (CDO) plan for enterprise-wide data use, Omni Federal was awarded contract to provide a forward-leaning solution that serves as a foundation for data modernization efforts and allows for future expansion of data-centric functionality.

DHA OMDS Modernization

In less than 12 months, Omni Federal worked with the Defense Health Agency (DHA) DHMS Joint Operational Medicine Information Systems (JOMIS) to successfully modernize the flow of Operational Medicine (OpMed) data by designing and building the OMDS system, improving deployed service members access to care around the globe.

Astoria system will intelligently add contextual metadata tags, and keyword identifiers to data entities tracked in the system metadata catalogue. Within the future business rules module Omni will provide the following capabilities: automatic tagging of data assets, bulk tagging, commenting, and rating, and ability to view history of applied rules. Omni will be continuously working with relevant users and stakeholders to identify the use of AI/ML algorithms to provide recommended business rules for improved classification and search. Omni will use data analytics in order to provide power users with areas where business rule implementation can lead to efficiency gains.

Current production systems lack the tools to manage work products and data assets in an ever-changing data environment. Accuracy, completeness, reliability, relevance, and timeliness of data is critical to achieve the level of data quality necessary for Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications and empower decision makers.

Data producers use a series of disconnected/unintegrated legacy systems in combination with collections of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products, which together fall short of the optimum intuitive and efficient nature required for mission effectiveness in the modern era. Analysts struggle to discover and reuse assets and are challenged by the lack of data-centricity and authoritative data standards necessary to create new products. Strategic decision makers lack a 360-degree view of data across the enterprise to support rapid informed decisions.

Astoria Metadata Management

Using state-of-the-art technologies, the Astoria system provides the unique capabilities and infrastructure to manage (create/tag/track) data of legacy systems and new assets and products enabling discovery and reuse across the enterprise.

As Omni Federal and SAF/IE continue their joint effort to enhance and build upon SABER they are meeting weekly to guide the iterative process. With an inclusion of a data and visual update to encompass survey data collected by groups involved in the basing process the team will move towards the next feature to allow SAF/IE to internally communicate about their tasks in the process. The Omni Federal team utilizes weekly customer meetings to create alignment and clarity on the course of the project roadmap.

Through an exercise of “buying a feature” the SAF/IE team was empowered to make actionable recommendations on where the application should be improved and enhanced to better support the basing process, while being able to see the roadmap develop based on their desires. From this the roadmap is outlined to include error handling to address a discovered problem by users who are learning the basing process. The inclusion of this will allow for users to be able to service themselves in their interactions with the application. The roadmap also has admin control over provided data and templates for the users to interact with and deliver portions of the process in a uniform manner. As the product will grow and mature Omni Federal will continue to be a partner and leverage its knowledge of SDLC.

Current technology for USAF Strategic Basing process does not adequately support the 
SAF-IEIB organization and actually contributes to inefficiencies in the process. SAF IEIB organization needs digitization of the Basing Process through consolidated data capture, audit trails, and automated reporting

As businesses continue to adapt and change, basing processes change to match the times. To move from a paper based structure to a digital one will bring forth challenges that we can call process adaptations or “growing pains”. To digitize a process all aspects of the process need to be accounted for. Understanding the origination of the process and expected outcomes and deliveries is the first step.

When you start to dig into the process more you start looking at all major milestones, minor milestones, known deviations the process can take, and most importantly the business logic that guides the process at every step and turn. In the current ecosystem of business it can be a struggle to move efficiently and accurately through some of these processes, leaving those who manage these processes left in piles of paperwork and increasing their chances of missing something or having to circle back. The modernization of a process through digital enhancement is no small task but the resulting software product will enhance the quality and consistency of tasks the user groups will produce.

ECMA and ASWF continue to lean in on digital modernization, with new cohorts planned and programs across the Army continue to look towards CReATE as a means of supporting their users and application modernization needs. Our support of ECMA has expanded to include their Cloud Enablement Division (CED), where we are helping ECMA better manage the onboarding experience of new organizations from across the Army. Our partnership with them allows us to iteratively improve the self-service and DevSecOps tools supporting their modernization efforts. ECMA, ASWF, and the service members that rely on the applications supported by CReATE are all benefiting from Omni’s experience and expertise in user centered, agile methods.  DevSecOps and UCD are ensuring positive outcomes for the Army!

The Department of Defense requires software products that meet the needs of its various users and missions, and they are creating software factories to ensure industry best practices and technologies are used in this IT modernization effort.  DoD is leaning in on digital transformation, and the US Army created the Enterprise Cloud Management Agency and Army Software Factory to help lead this change.
